The Winter Park/ Frasier/ Granby Area is a summertime playground
and rafting belongs at #1 on your fun-things-to-do list. The family friendly Colorado River and the wet and wild Eagle River
are both accessible to the Winter Park Resort Area. The drive follows the Colorado River Scenic Byway, with canyon overlooks
and scenic vistas of the majestic Gore Range. Reservations are recommended but we don’t normally need a lot of notice.
COLORADO RIVER
The Colorado River is the closest raft trip to Winter Park,
a scenic 90 minute drive along the Colorado River Scenic Byway. The Colorado is a fun family float with deep canyons, high
mountain vistas and easy rapids. The whitewater is rated Class II and II+ and river conditions are great all summer. Even
in lighter rapids, we play close attention to safety. Our guides are experts in the science of raftology. Everyone wears a
fitted life jacket and a safety briefing is given prior to each trip. Two person inflatable kayaks, known as “duckies”,
are available to the more active and adventurous members of your party. Our trips meet at Radiuim, 20 miles south of Kremmling
on the Colorado Headwaters Scenic Byway. Departures are at 900AM, 100PM, and 400PM. The rafts are on the river for 2 hours.
Please arrive at our location in Radium 20 minutes before the departure. We recommend wearing shorts or a swimsuit and appropriate
footwear (sports sandals or water shoes) is required. Water shoes are available to rent for $2.00. Snacks and beverages are
allowed. You will be getting wet, so have dry clothing in the car for after the trip. Click on the Colorado River tab on the
navigation bar for more information and specific directions to our headquarters in Radium.
THE EAGLE RIVER
Get ready to get wet! The Eagle River is a free flowing
river with some of the best moderate to advanced rapids in Colorado. Rafting on the Eagle is available in late May, June and
early July. The drive from Winter Park is about 2 hours and our departures are at 900AM and 100PM. Please arrive in Wilcott at least
20 minutes before the departure. As always, safety is primary. All participants wear a wetsuit and a fitted Coast Guard approved
life jacket. A thorough briefing on whitewater safety procedures is given before the rafts go on the river. For most of the
season, the rapids are Class III and III+, but at high water in early June ratings can reach Class IV. Half days are on the
river for two hours. The cost, including wetsuits and splash jackets, is $44. per person. Under the wetsuit, we recommend
that you wear a swimsuit. Have a warm, dry set of clothes in your car for after the trip. Go to our Eagle River page for info
and directions or call 800-826-1081.
