Steamboat Springs Rafting

Colorado River Runs, Inc.

The mountain resort of Steamboat Springs has access to rivers that are great for whitewater rafting. The Colorado River has easy rapids and offers the closest rafting to Steamboat, a scenic 75 minute drive away. The Eagle River has great moderate to advanced rapids. Our location in Wolcott is 75 minutes from Steamboat.

THE COLORADO RIVER

The Colorado is an affordable and fun family float, with deep canyons, high mountain vistas, and swirling rapids. The whitewater on the Colorado is rated easy (Class II and II+) with water conditions excellent all summer. Even in lighter rapids, safety is our primary concern. An experienced guide accompanies each raft. We all wear fitted Coast Guard approved life jackets and a safety briefing is given before the boats go on the water. Two person inflatable kayaks, known as duckies, are available for the more active and adventurous members of your party. Our trips meet at our headquarters in Radium, 20 miles south of Kremmling in the Colorado River Valley. The trips are on the water approximately two hours and departure times are 900AM, 100PM, and 400PM. Please plan to arrive at our location in Radium 20 minutes prior to the departure time. The cost is $35. for adults and $30. for children 13 years and under. We recommend that you wear shorts or a swimsuit and appropriate footwear (water shoes or sport sandals) is required. We have water shoes available to rent for $2. Snacks and beverages are permitted. For more information and specific directions to our site in Radium, click on the Colorado River page on the navigation bar.

THE EAGLE RIVER

Get ready to get wet! The Eagle River at Wolcott has some of the best moderate to advanced rapids in Colorado. This trip is not recommended for children. At high water in early June, the Eagle is fast and furious and very, very wet. Some vigorous paddling may be required. Safety is primary, with each participant wearing a wetsuit and a fitted Coast Guard approved life jacket. A thorough briefing on whitewater safety is given prior to each trip. For most of the season, the rapids are Class III and III+, but in early June ratings can reach Class IV. Half days are on the river for about two hours. The cost is $44. per person, including the wetsuits and splash jackets. Under the wetsuit, we recommend that you wear a swimsuit. Remember to have a warm, dry set of clothing in the car for after the trip. Go to our Eagle River page for more info and directions or call 800-826-1081
